It is located about 43Km from District head quarters Alappuzha, and 19 Kmfrom Cherthala Town. This island shares border with Ernakulam and Kottayam District.There are 9733 People living in this Village, 4880 are males and 4853 are females as per 2011 census. Most beautiful attraction of perumbalam island is backwaters and traditional fishing. Perumbalam is also famous for its coir products and a land of lush paddy fields. Since Perumbalam is an island with no bridge to neighbour placess, the only transportation medium is water/lake, and can reach there by boat. Main places near with boat jetty are Panavally, Poothotta, South Paravoor etc.
