Punnathurkotta was once the place of a local ruler,but the palace grounds are now used to house the elephants belonging to theGuruvayur temple and has been renamed Anakkotta -Elephant Fort.The compound also has a nalukettu, a traditional rectangular house with a central courtyard which belonged to the Punnathur Raja
