A famous Jain temple is located at Sultan Bathery, earlier known as kidaganad town of Kerala. It is said to have been built in the 13th century CE.The temple is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.

The presiding deity here is Mariyamman. It is believed that the tribals helped king Pazhassi Raja in the war against the British Empire. In regards to this help, it is believed that the king gifted this temple to tribal devotees. The customs and rituals are different from other temples.
