About Village
The village is situated in Vellangallur Gramapanchayat, about 11.6 km to the south-west of Irinjalakuda, the Kasba of the Mukudapuram Taluk, and lies between Padiyoor and Poomangalam in the north, Thekkumkara in the east and the backwater in the south and west. Vallivattom is a sleepy liitle village on Connolly canal.It offers wide variety of Flora and Fauna,exotic sightseeing, boating and fishing experience.The beautiful paradise stocked with mangrove forests and coconut trees comprises with water ways and canals enchants the tourists.
Demography
Total Population of the village, as ascertained by the census 1901 was 2350(Male-1229 and Female-1121),and total number of inhabited houses was 450. As per the census 2011, total population was 8537(Male-3970 and female-4567) and inhabited houses was 2112.
Geography
Vallivattom is a remote village in Mukundapuram Taluk, Thrissur District of Kerala state. Kodungallur is the nearest town to Vallivattom which is approximately 7 Km away. Here there is a bridge called "Poovathumkadavu Bridge" connecting two taluks, Mukundapuram and Kodungallur . Total area of the village is 845.5763 Hectares.Geographically it is a large mosaic of fragmented landscape marked by marshes, mangroves, ponds, coconut groves and network of canals.Three sides of the village is surrounded by the backwater , a part of Connolly canal.
Socio-Economic
Most of the people are working in agricultural, fishing and coir manufacturing sectors. There are rubber companies here and the panchayat also has mini industrial estates. The well known Sachindra Rubber company dealing with ISRO Is situated here.The village is also rich in Shrimp farms and fish farms. The Kerala floods of 2018 also severely affected 2/3 of the people living in the area.
Ecology
Village has a storage of Biodiversity with a large number of plants and animals of different varieties. A large number of migrating birds are visiting every year "Ammaripadam", a small beautiful place of this village. The backwaters of Cheeppumchira, Koottala and Kettuchira flourished with a large number of fishes , prawns and other organisms of different species and have mangroves.
Tourism
CHEEPUMCHIRA :
Cheepumchira is located about 2 km south of Vallivattom village on the Karuppadanna road, on the banks of the Connolly Canal and shines through the beauty of thick mangroves. It is a small tourist destination with natural beauty. Many people come here to watch the sunset in the evenings.
KETTUCHIRA :
At the northern end of the village is the Sluice cum Bridge which connects Vellangalloor Panchayat with Padiyoor Panchayat. Kettuchira is often selected as a shooting location for movies, short films, and video albums. Many people come and spend time fishing.
VALLIVATTOM KADAVU :
The boat is used as water transport which helps in connecting Vellangalloor panchayat with SN Puram panchayat, attracting the scenic beauty of the Connolly Canal.
