About Village

Kuttoor is a village in Thiruvalla Taluk, Pathanamthitta district. Kuttoor panchayathu which is under Thiruvalla assembly constituency and Pulikkizhu block panchayathu. Earlier this village was also in the Eraviperoor Village and separated as Kuttoor Village on 4th Nov 1984. This is a beautiful village situated between towns of Thiruvalla and Chengannur. Total Area - 1190 Hec 47 Are 25 sq.m Comprises of two blocks.

Demography

Kuttoor village has population of 19652 of which 9170 are males while 10482 are females as per Population Census 2011. Population of children with age 0-6 is 1607 which makes up 8.18 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Kuttoor village is 1143 which is higher than Kerala state average of 1084. Child Sex Ratio for the Kuttoor as per census is 915, lower than Kerala average of 964. Kuttoor village has higher literacy rate compared to Kerala. In 2011, literacy rate of Kuttoor village was 97.80 % compared to 94.00 % of Kerala. In Kuttoor Male literacy stands at 98.22 % while female literacy rate was 97.44 %.

Geography

Topography of Kuttoor comprises plains, paddy fields, and small ranges. There are paddy fields in Ettukadavu and Kothaviruthi. Main crops are paddy, coconut, tapioca, sugarcane, banana, and pepper. The main water source of the village is Manimalayar. There are smaller sources of water like Varattar, Madhurampuzha, Kadhalimangalathar and Ettukadavu stream.

Socio-Economic

Population of Kuttoor Village belong to all types of working classes. Some are merchants and shop owners. Some are Govt. employees and some daily wage workers. Some are indulged in labour of their clan. Some are stationed outside Kerala as well as India.

Ecology

The Community Ecology of Kuttoor Village comprises of communities such as Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Comparatively the proportion of Muslims is less though.

Tourism

Kuttoor was once the capital of Thekkumkoor Kingdom. Dritharashramala (known as Pottanmala ), Kottappuram, Bhoothakkuzhi, Chakrashalanakkadavu are the historically relevant places in Kuttoor which are of tourist importance.
