The village covers 1568.75 hectares of area in five Desoms- Kanniyampuram, Thottakara, South Panamanna, Vadanamkurissi and Varode. Village Office is situated in a building at Taluk Office Annex, which is in Ottapalam 2 village area.

Demography

As per the Adhaar Estimate made in 2021, the population in Ottapalam Taluk was 1154058 and as per census data 2011, the population of which was 930692. Total Population in Ottapalam 1 village as per census data 2011 was 24827 which includes 12838 males and 11989 females. Geography

Geography

hilly area as well as mid land and wet lands consists of the village area.

Socio-Economic

Most of the area is wet land which is mainly used for agricultural purpose. Paddy is the main agri crops. Coconut, Rubber, Pepper, plantain and Tapioca are also cultivated. Animal farming like Cow, pig and goat and fish farming are also the source of income. Milk societies are strong within the region. Co-operative societies and Micro financing agencies are helping the farmers in agriculture.

Ecology

Agriculutre is the main source of income. Paddy is the main crops. Vast area in the village are paddy fields. Urbanization started in some parts of the village like Thottakara and Kanniyampuram.

Tourism

Ananganmala which is a branch of Western Ghats forms one side of the village, where us greenish paddy fields are the scenic beauty in another side. The natural beauty of vast greenery and traditional rural life in Varode and Panamanna attracts much. Sree Sankara Narayana Temple in Panamanna, Killikavu in Kanniyampuram and Chathankhandarkavu in Varode are the main Temples in village.
