About Village

Village was formed on 01/01/1970.It was one of the Taluks during British rule.Kadalayi sree krishna temple situates in this village.The Palace of Kolathiris were in Chirakkal. Kolathiri were also known as Chirakkal Raja .Total literacy rate of Chirakkal is 96.05% Former Chief Minister of Kerala Shri K. Karunakaran was born in Chirakkal in 1918. Chirakkal Chira which is situated in the limit of Chirakkal Village is a famous for its natural beauty.It is believed that Chirakkal Kizhakkekara Mathilakam Sree Krishna Temple was the place from where Cherussery wrote his famous literary work Krishnagatha.
