About Village

Kuthiyathodu village office is situated eastern side of old NH and southern side of kuthiyathodu bridge. Kuthiyathodu village was formed from Thuravoor village and named as Thuravoor north village and later as Kuthiyathodu. The Kuthiathode was once the major waterway for transporting goods to the local market from Kochi via the Vembanad lake. The name Kuthiathode means a dug-canal. The landscape of paddy fields on both sides of the Pallithode-Chavady road is really splendid. The view of Chinese fishing nets across the Pallithode backwaters from the Pallithode bridge is really a beautiful scene. A small backwater lake connects Kuthiathode with Valiathode. Onam boat racing is held in backwaters and attracts many seasonal tourists.

Demography

The population of the village was around to 24000 pople as per the 2011 census.

Geography

The eastern and southern sides of village is Thuravoor south village , western side is Arabian sea , northern side is Kuthiyathode Canal .

Socio-Economic

Most people at western part engaging with fishing and connected job for their livelihood. Fish-farming is a major source of income. Thuravoor Taluk Hospital is situated in this village

Ecology

Sea-erosion is a major conern whcih troubles the life of coastal people especially during monsoon season. Many areas are prone to flood during rainy season
