Kuthiyathodu village office is situated eastern side of old NH and southern side of kuthiyathodu bridge. Kuthiyathodu village was formed from Thuravoor village and named as Thuravoor north village and later as Kuthiyathodu. The Kuthiathode was once the major waterway for transporting goods to the local market from Kochi via the Vembanad lake. The name Kuthiathode means a dug-canal. The landscape of paddy fields on both sides of the Pallithode-Chavady road is really splendid. The view of Chinese fishing nets across the Pallithode backwaters from the Pallithode bridge is really a beautiful scene. A small backwater lake connects Kuthiathode with Valiathode. Onam boat racing is held in backwaters and attracts many seasonal tourists.
