About Village
Karukachal is a fast-growing town in Changanassery Taluk in Kottayam district of Kerala state in India. The name Karukacha was coined from the words Karuka Karukapullu in Malayalam which is a type of grass which grew in plenty and "chal" meaning a small body of flowing water. The area that includes present day Karukachal village was once a part of the kingdom of Travancore. Later it became part of the Travancore-Kochi state following the merger of Travancore and Kochi.

Karukachal village has a total population of 22,977 peoples as per census 2011. Karukachal village comes under Kanjirappally assembly & Pathanamthitta parliamentary constituency.
Geography
The northern part of Karukachal village is bordered by Pampadi and Thottakkad villages, the eastern part by Pampadi and Nedumkunnam villages, the southern part by Kunnanthanam and Anikkadu villages and the western part by Madappally village.
Socio-Economic
The people of Karukachal village are mainly engaged in agriculture and trade. Cattle rearing was the main occupation in the area.

Nethalloor Devi Temple in Kottayam Road, Sree Mahadeva Temple, Vettikavumkal Junction and Ayyappa Temple in Central Junction are the main temples in Karukachal. St. Georges Malankara Catholic Church, St. Josephs church Champakara, St. Marys Church Koothrappally, Jerusalem Marthoma Church, St. Thomas Marthoma Church in Kottayam Road are the main churches. There is a mosque on Changanacherry road in the center of Karukachal Town.
