About Village

Karimpuzha1 village is located on the banks of the Karimpuzha River, a major tributary of the Bharathapuzha River. The total Geographical Area of the Village is 2953.4323 Hectares. One of the main attrations of Karimpuzha1 village is Karimpuzha Sree Ramaswamy Temple (also known as the Dakshina Ayodhya) . The temple was owned by Kozhikode Samoodhiripad - Eralpad, the heir to become Samoodhiri, who had his "Kovilakam" in Karimpuzha. It is believed that Rama renounced his life here in the river Karimpuzha . One of the major occupation of people in Karimpuzha1 village is weaving. The fore fathers of weaving community of Karimpuzha came from Mysore 500 years ago, to weave clothes for Zamorin dynasty and they never returned to their native place. The weavers belong to special weaving community called Devanga. They followed the traditional path in the early days and created elegant clothes which cannot be replaced by other types of clothes.presently the village is a centre of Handloom manufacturing and selling.

As per Census data 2011 the total population of Karimpuzha1 village has a population of 19287 of which 9189 are males and 10098 are females. The literacy rate of Karimpuzha1 Village is 91.23%.

Geography

Karimpuzha 1 Village is situated at a distance of 35 kms from Palakkad town and 25 Kms from Ottappalam.The Village is surrounded in the north by Kottoppadam2 Village in the East by Kumaramputhur, Karimpuzha2, Villages in the south by karimpuzha River and in the West by Thachanattukara2 Village.The major part of Karimpuzha1 Village lies at an elevation between 60 to 100 metres above sea level. Ridge Crest, side slope, foot slope, river terrace and valley are the land forms in Karimpuzha1 Village. The plain areas of Kulikkiliyad , kottappuram and Kunnakkad have latterite soil.

Socio-Economic

The population of Karimpuzha1 Village belong to Hindu, Muslim and Christian Communities.Sections of Hindu Communities peculiar to the Village are Devanga, Gupthan and Tharakan. There are many Mosques and Temples in the Village. Most of the people of the Village rely on agriculture for maintaining their livelihood. Rubber , Arecanut Coconut are the main crops in the Village.Rubber plantations are abundant in the Village.

Ecology

The climate in karimpuzha1 Village is pleasant for most part of the year.There is sufficient rainfall in the village. However certain areas of the village is affected by drought during summer months.
