About Village
Periya is an emerging town in Kasaragod District. Now it is also a center of educational institutions. The Central University of Kerala campus, SIEMET nursing college, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are some of the main centers of excellence.
Demography
According to Census 2011, the total male population is 7678 and female population is 8429 and the male population under the age of six is 861 and female is 851.
Geography
The North East boundary of Periya Village is Thanniyadi River and Northern Boundary is Ayamkadavu River The Western Boundary is Rarappanadukkam of Panayal Village and Sounthern Boundary is a part of Central University of Kerala Periya Village is 24 km south from Kasaragod and about 14 km north from Kanhangad
Socio-Economic
Periya is also known for its agricultural products and most of the people depends on agriculture as their livelihood. Periya is also known for religious harmony and cultural heritage The Kalliyot temple and Pulibhootha Devasthasthnam are very sacred for devotees.
Ecology
The land mainly consists of laterite soil and granite rocks.
