Kalkoonthal is a Village in udumbanchola taluk. It is located near mini civil station nedumkandam. Kalkoonthal is a Village in udumbanchola taluk formed in 1956. It is known as the land of migratory farmers, most of whom have migrated from Central Travancore areas like Kottayam, Palai, Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha in search of better agricultural land in the 1960s to 1980s period. It is located near mini civil station nedumkandam.

It has a hilly terrain with a cool and and is situated very near to sub-district headquarter Nedumkandam and 43 km away from district headquarter Painavu and mostly surrounded by Cardamom Plantation.This Place is in the border of the Idukki District and Theni District. Kambam is East towards this place . It is near to the Tamil Nadu State Border.

Socio-Economic

Various sections of Christianity, Hinduism and Muslims co-exist harmoniously. Income is mainly from Tourism and Cardamom Plantation.
