Located in the heart of Thalassery, one of the ancient and historically important cities of North Kerala, Thiruvangad Village is one of the three villages in the Thalassery Municipality which has been functioning since 1985 in its own building on the government land just north of the Thalassery New Bus Stand. Thiruvangad village consists of 7 desoms. Thiruvangad, Kavumbhagam, Vayalalam, Chalil, Thalai, Punnol and Vayalalam. It was earlier known as Thiruvankadu and later as Lopichu Thiruvangad. Thiruvangad is also home to many historical and ancient institutions. 1. Thiruvangad Sri Ramaswamy Temple 2. Jagannath Temple was established by Sree Narayana Guru 3. St.. Peters Church 4. Gardening floor 5. Grass floor 6. Monolithic 7. Arakkal Tharavad 8. Saidar Church 9. Nalupurakkal Church 10. Kanthalot Church 11. Thalai Fishing Harbor 12. The Theosophical Society 13. Thalassery - Coorg road established by the British to connect Thalassery with Wayanad and Coorg 14. Thalassery Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in India.

Geography

Thiruvangad village is bounded on the west by Arabica Tal, on the south by Kodiyeri village, on the east by Eranjoli river and on the north by Thalassery village.

Socio-Economic

Kuthamparambu School, Thiruvananthapuram Girls School, Kavumbhagam School, Chaliya U. P School and other educational institutions are also located in Thiruvangad village. Thiruvangad is the jewel in the eye of Kannur who has written new stories of friendships across the borders of the village. Ecology

Vayalalam, an important place in the village of Thiruvangad, is known by that name because of the abundance of fields. The field was once known as the paddy field of Thalassery region.
