Cheemeni Village was a part of South Canera District of Madras Province and later became part of Hosdurg Taluk of Kannur District. In 1984,at the time of formation of Kasaragod District,it became part of Kasaragod District. Cheemeni village is one of the southern villages of Kasaragod district, bordering with Kannur district.The name Cheemeni arised from " Srre Meni" (Body of God) Cheemeni is a greenish village, with Cashew and Rubber Plantations.Cheemeni is one among the 4 villages in Kayyur -Cheemeni Grama Panchayat
Cheemeni is known for Cashew Plantations by Plantation Corporation of Kerala.They have Rubber Plantations also in 300 acres. Main attractions in Cheemeni Village are Open Jail, Kakkadavu Dam, Muthuppara Maqam, Cheemeni Sree Vishnumoorthy Kshethram( Cheemeni Mundya) and Kakkadavu River. Kakkadavu River and surroundings attract many,especially adventurous sports lovers like Kayaking
