Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the northern part of Kerala, in the Kannur District of Kerala, spread over an area of 5500 ha. The area is rich in evergreen forests, wet deciduous forests, chola forests and grasslands. Elephants, wild buffaloes, various species of deer, mountain goats, monkeys of different species and hornbills can be seen in the area. Aralam is also famous for the migration of butterflies. Adventure walking is also available.
Aralam Village is a hill station in the foothills of the Nilgiris, bordering the state of Karnataka on the eastern side of Kannur district. Aralam Village is located 11 km north of Iritty, the taluk headquarters. The rivers Bavalipuzha, Palapuzha, Kakuvapuzha, Aralampuzha, Irittipuzha and Kanjirapuzha are said to be the reasons for the name Aralam. Situated close to the Kodagu Hills in the state of Karnataka, this place is rich in biodiversity and water richness. The village is also famous for its Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary and Aralam Farm.
