Read MoreBlessed with sublime serine atmosphere, Ulloor Village is a fusion of rural life in an urban setting. The place is well-known from the era of Travancore rulers. Ulloor Village was formerly known as Ulloor Pravruthi Cutchery , headed by Pravruthikar, similar to that of present Village Officer. Multiple land tenure systems were prevailed during early British period. Pandarappattom proclamation which is described as Magna carta of peasants empowered the people with absolute right over their property. Major portion of the registered holdings in Ulloor Village comes under the tenure called Pandaravaka pattom. Ulloor was the home of the modern Malayalam Triumvirate poet Ulloor S Parameswara Iyer (6 June 1877 – 15 June 1949 ). History of this village can be traced back to the establishment of the State of Kerala. Initially it covered a vast area but subsequently due to demographic and administrative considerations it was bifurcated and current Ulloor Village was formed. The village is bordered by 8 other villages Cheruvackal, Pangappara, Uliyazhathura, Vattappara, Karakulam, Kudappanakkunnu, Kawadiar and Pattom. Ulloor Village is located adjacent to the capital city of Kerala and 6.4 km from the Thampannoor railway station and 7 km from the Thiruvananthapuram international airport. It comes under Kazhakkoottam legislative Assembly and Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha Constituency. The office is situated next to the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. Mar Ivanios College, Mar Baselios Autonomous Engineering college, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Mar Gregorios Law College, Theophilos training College and a host of educational institutions in the Mar Ivanios Vidyanagar, Nalanchira, Govt. Technical High School and SUT Royal hospital are situated inside Ulloor Village territory. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences, RCC and SAT are in the close vicinity. National Highway at western boundary and State Highway at eastern boundary connects the village with the main artery of transport system. Both the roads are merged together at Kesavadasapuram Junction of Ulloor Village. Several worship centers and libraries are there in this village which is a symbol of high cultural heritage. Stadium at Mannanthala is a catalyst of sports activities of this village.
Government Secretariat is known as KERALA SAMSTHANA BHARANA SIRA KENDRAM which simply means heart of administration, having a complex of administration departments. Revenue Department is the administration department of Ulloor Village Office.
Oldest and biggest medical college in Kerala established in 1951Its campus houses several hospitals and institutions in addition to Medical College Hospital (MCH), including the Colleges of Nursing and Pharmaceutical sciences, the Regional Cancer Centre an autonomous institution under state Government, Thiruvananthapuram Dental College, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology another autonomous institute under Govt of India, the Priyadarshini Institute of Paramedical Sciences,the Sree Avittom Thirunal Hospital for Women and Children (SAT Hospital),where the highest number of deliveries reported in asia. Child development centre (CDC) an autonomous institution under state government and the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory(MDRL). The Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), also a part of the college, is being upgraded to a national-level independent institute.
