Vayillyamkunnu Bhagavathy Temple is positioned in Katampazhipuram in the state of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The temple is administered by the Vayillyamkunnilappan Devaswom and its part by the Malabar Devaswom Board. The legend of this temple dates way back to the 13th century. Unlike other temple’s history, this temple’s has a unique start with the existence of the asylum of a Vaisya Minister named Sankara Nayanar and his men of a local kingdom. The Minister along with people of four villages reached Calicut, impressed by their intelligence, Zamorin, the King of Calicut, gave them permission to build cities in Valluvanad area and sent the Pathinaayirathil Nair, the chieftain who arranged above ten thousand warriors as demanded by the King Zamorin, along with them, for support.
